Lourens van Staden who is the newly appointed acting chief for the South Africa National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) recently announced about the January ,February and march 2024 students allowance.
What the bursary cover
Professor Lourens van Staden Said “The allowances paid include the book, accommodation, transport, food and personal care allowances.
Already the National Student Financial Aid Scheme ,has made two upfront payments to all institutions — one that was disbursed on 31 January and another on 29 February 2024.
“All the universities will also be handling the payment of the March allowance. Institutions are reminded to allow direct payment service providers to conduct the process of onboarding students whilst they continue with payments,” he said.
Its important to note that the bursary is only available to South African individuals who meet the requirements.
2024 requirements
According to the nsfas website " applicants Must be South African citizen / permanent resident Combined gross household income should not exceed R350 000 per annum Combined gross household income (persons living with disabilities) should not exceed R600 000 per annum SASSA recipients automatically qualify on financial eligibility Must have email and cell phone "

- Create new profile ,if you haven't create one
- Complete the form by filling your real name, last name and id as seen in your South African identity card.
- Click on race and select your race
- Create password and Complete application
