Minimum Requirements
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Law or an equivalent qualification.
Experience:
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a Legal Administration-related environment.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong dispute resolution, mediation, and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of Personal Injury and Third-Party Compensation laws.
- Understanding of civil proceedings in South African Magistrate, Regional, and High Courts.
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate legal processes effectively.
- Client service orientation and ethical decision-making skills.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Administration
- Transcribe and proofread legal documents for settlement discussions.
- Collate directives and maintain case file databases.
- Retrieve and manage legal documentation efficiently.
- Administer dispute arbitration processes and brief experts.
- Oversee hearings and ensure all relevant evidence is gathered.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure timely delivery of documentation.
- Follow up on outstanding legal matters and settlement agreements.
Block Settlements
- Organize and coordinate block settlement meetings.
- Manage court documentation and filing.
- Monitor and diarize court processes.
- Provide clarity on claims assessment and determinations.
Reporting
- Contribute to regular progress reports and submissions.
- Support management decision-making with accurate legal reporting.
Stakeholder Management
- Foster strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Address inquiries and requests for legal information promptly.
